WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday is a weekly memewww hosted by Taking on a World of Words.

Happy Wednesday! Today feels awfully long for some reason. Maybe because I haven’t been in my work office since last Thursday, so it kind of feels like Monday. How cruel!

Anyway, I finally started a book that’s been on my TBR for a very long time, so I thought this week’s WWW Wednesday post would be a great time to talk about it!

The Three Ws

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab! I bought this book ages ago and planned to read it right away, but then got distracted by other books, including Schwab’s YA fantasy, This Savage Song. I liked that one a lot, so I’m not exactly disappointed I read it first. But I’m happy to finally be reading ADSOM; I’m about 100 pages in. The world building is so impressive, and it’s nice to be reading a non-YA fantasy for a change!

Difficult Women by Roxane Gay. I was so engrossed in this collection of short stories that I read it in one night, which turned out to be great timing, because Gay had a tour stop/MLK Day talk near me last night, so I got to meet her and gush to her about it! The short stories are fictitious, yet very real in how they pertain to life for women in today’s world. It was a very heartbreaking but inspiring read.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I plan on jumping right to A Gathering of Shadows, the sequel to ADSOM, so I’m prepared for the third book’s release in late February. But if I need to take a break in between the two, I’m telling myself to read The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater, so I can finally get closure to The Raven Cycle and my poor Gansey’s fate! *cries*
